An Almost Perfect ✕ Patio Workshop Collaboration
Hand made
art FRAMEs
We teamed up with Patio Workshop to offer artists frames for their artworks.
We have been friends with architect and furniture maker Francisco Martínez (Everyone calls him Paco) for years. He made several items in our gallery furniture. Originally from Mexico, Paco lives with his Japanese family in the countryside of Saitama, between the rice fields. Next to his house (where you can also stay) he has a workshop, where he makes furniture and gives workshops for everyone who wants to make something with wood. Paco works using century old Japanese techniques of wood jointing and he puts a lot of love in his labour.
Since many of our artists needed to frame their artworks, we asked Paco to develop a simple framing system for them.

Frames key points
Frames are affordable for the artists.
They are light so people can take them back home. Paco used lightweight Paulownia wood which you could easily paint.
The system makes assembling easy and quick.
Artists are able to customize size and thickness.
The whole production is done in a sustainable way: All parts of the frame comes from the same piece of wood, maximising any rest pieces as part of the whole again.
Paco finishes each frame with natural bee wax cream, which looks great, dries almost instantly and is good for the environment.
